Relationships between cavity power loss and surface conductivity in cavities in solid insulation at AC conditions

Measurements using an integrating bridge were introduced because the partial discharges died away during long term tests. These bridge measurements together with 'offline' measurements of surface conductivity on the dielectric surfaces indicated increased surface conductivity during the tests. Via equivalent network diagrams, the losses could be explained from the measured surface conductivities. Further, estimates have been made on the time that it takes local charge on a dielectric surface to leak away.
